July: Recital, Salome, and Rusalka

Asmik Grigorian appears in recital with renowned baritone Matthias Goerne on July 2 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. Under the baton of Josep Pons, they will perform works by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss in a program that explores themes of loss and transcendence. Highlights include the Liebestod and King Marke’s lament from Tristan und Isolde, Wotan’s Farewell from Die Walküre, and Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder.

Later in the month, Grigorian returns to the role of Salome in Richard Strauss’ searing psychological drama with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Antonio Pappano for their season finale.

To close the month, Grigorian reprises the role of Rusalka at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, joined by tenor Pavol Breslik as the Prince, Christof Fischesser as Vodník, Okka von der Damerau as Ježibaba and conducted by Edward Gardner.
